There has been so much news lately about the temple demolition and intent of the Mp of Kapar thought of resigning from the Selangor PKR liaison deputy Chief Position. This posting should help clarify some of the massive information that has been around the mainstream, websites and blogs.
Why Manikavasagam Considered Resignation?
Political Secretary to YB S Manikavasagam explained the reason behind the intent to relinquish his position as the Selangor PKR liaison deputy Chief Position by the Mp of Kapar.
To set the record straight the YB S Manikavasagam’s action was on behalf of all Malaysians immaterial of racial background. This is something that can happen to the Chinese, Malays, Indians or any other races for that matter.
The Mp of Kapar was merely concerned that something drastic needs to be done in ensure that the current demolitions are clarified, fixed and sorted out in a more diplomatic fashion and any demolition that has to take place must be with the consent of the effected parties.
The Pakatan Rakyat state government held a strong position that no place of worship (whether surau, tokong, kuil, church etc.) built prior to 8 March 2008 is to be demolished, unless and until a suitable site has been identified for relocation.
The Mp of Kapar feels that Pakatan Rakyat government have been betrayed by certain authorities who have been taking matters into their own hands without realizing that the old days have passed and the new government will not tolerate such behavior hence something must be done to stop this from re-occur.
Looking at the bigger picture, if the temple is in fault for not having the right paper work in place before building the structure at the forest reserve land then MPAJ also in fault as it’s beyond their jurisdiction(unless forest reserve land are within the jurisdiction of the local council without my knowledge). If the temple has not followed the procedures then MPAJ has not followed by overriding State Government decisions and other procedures such as issuing notice and informing Local Councilors prior action.
Makes you wonder how come Dato Zakaria’s Mansion in Pandamaran, Port Klang which was built illegally was not demolished?
The Mp of Kapar has decided to work together with the relevant parties in ensuring that such issues do not arise while coming to a amicable solution for the effected parties. The Mp of Kapar is committed in resolving these issues and urge everyone to allow our Pakatan Rakyat government to continue to make things right and to implement just and sustainable solutions for all Malaysians.
YB Manikavasagam is commited in the making Malaysia a home for all Malaysians and he will be colour blind towards race and colour. This stand is purely based on pricipals which he strongly stands by. Yb Manikavasagam will re-evaluate his current stand if no satisfactory resolution is reached and clear guidelines have been put in place to protect the places of worship of all Malaysians
If you need further information or have questions, do leave a comment and we will get right back to you when time permits.

Hi Punithan,
Its pretty obvious that you are out to pin point and get some fault on those who are trying to resolve the issues. The news will come to you as it happens.
Every issue that has taken place will take a little time to resolve but ultimately gets clarified and resolved.
Personally this is refreshing because never in the history of the nation have we experienced this kind of responses.
You seem ti potrait yourself as a seasoned politician that seems to know too much for your own good so i suggest like the name of your blog of “CoFfEE witH PUNithAN” you probably need “A Strong Coffee For Punithan” to wake up to reality.
Hold your horses Punithan..Issues will get resolved and i don’t blame you for feeling agitated over the sudden influx of info which you and Malaysian were are not used to receiving.
But i suggest you get used to it dude…The new political age of Malaysia has accountability and transparency which the likes of the past of Malaysian politics is so used to conveniently sweeping under the mat.
Hope you have a Blessed Hari Raya & Maaf Zahir & Batin

Greetings,
well, when someone starts to ask questions, we shut them off with 101 questions….
well … ref to the current prob, the players are changed but the game is still the same…. but aren’t we repeating the same mistake?
PEMUDA MIC: CHANGE OF TUNE
http://indiansmalaysia.blogspot.com/2008/09/change-of-tune-from-pemuda-mic-ref.html
honestly i am/was not very much into ’street protest’ idea. I believe Malaysia is far more civilized for that.
BUT NOW
Learning from the change of tide in my malaysia, i bow to the reality, ‘SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE TUNE WHEN THERE IS A NEED”
Talking about street protests and demos, we rarely get to see MIC(BN) in ACTION, as they always give priorities to round table or closed door discussions to get(try) things solved. So the leaders TALK and we(RAKYAT) enjoys/ suffers the outcome.
This ’style’ caused them alot in GE-12. The oppositions managed to spin it and the rakyats were infected by amnesia. Opposition’s OPEN STYLE seems more attractive and most importantly gave a feel of PARTICIPATION for the rakyat.
THE RAKYAT ALWAYS RIGHT
The tide changed. They want everything to be transparent. they want be a part of it.
A good political party should walk in a style preferred by rakyat. Since GE-12 MIC via their youth wing become very vocal.
And, this is their walk in protest against temple demolition.
MIC protests against demolition
About 100 MIC members demonstrated here to protest the demolition of a Hindu temple by the Ampang Jaya Municipal council recently.
The crowd, which included Indian NGOs, protested at the main gate of the Selangor secretariat building yesterday morning.
Organiser T. Mohan, who is MIC Youth chief, said the PKR government had lied to the people that they would not tear down any places of worship.
“They said no temples would be destroyed, what happened now?” Mohan told reporters the MIC was unhappy with the state government’s action to demolish the Sri Mahakaliaman temple after he presented a memorandum to Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s political secretary, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
The 19-year-old temple was built on forest reserve. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times between 2002 and 2007.
Asked why the MIC did not solve the issue then, Mohan said the party had taken action and that was why the temple was rebuilt.

I know some will choose to ask, ‘where were they in the past, when so many hindu temples demolished nationwide’. A respond from the MIC nation youth coordinator :
“There are so many temples without permit, that is a fact, we know it, but you (the state government) have promised not tear down any temples.
“I can tell you 50% to 60% of temples in the country don’t have proper permits and the (temple) committees may have not have been registered too, but that doesn’t mean you can tear down their temples,” he said.
MIC had always fought against the demolition of temples, citing as an example the party’s protest to former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo when seven or eight temples in Puchong were demolished, including a controversial one in Padang Jawa, just before the March 8 general election.
Now, like many i am hoping for a solution for this matter for good. Not only from BN but also from PR who is in power in 5 states.
Dont just shut / close this with ‘words’ . I think indians who voted for PR in selangor are not going to buy it anymore.
FOR MIC
Now, its the time to prove your sincerity and relevants . You walk towards the solution, and the rakyat will walk with you.
FOR BN
Now, its the time to prove that BARISAN NASIONAL cares for EVERYONE
FOR PR
Welcome to political war zone. Its easy to point out other’s mistakes. The real struggle is, how you open to critics and strong enough to rectify your mistakes. Only that can prove your credibility!!!

Dear MP,
By now , I believe many Rakyat have commented on your EMOTIONAL RESIGNATION,this is my 2 sen advise to you,Don’t ever over react on any issue and make public outburst when you are not in the right frame of mind.
As an adult or even more so as a Rakyat representative, you need to take the responsibility on all your actions and comments, when words have spoken they cannot be taken back,so be very careful on whatever action you are taking.
If you think by QUITTING the problem can be resolve, then you are very wrong, you need to strong to face all the problem not by running away or by THREATENING to RESIGN, this goes to all the RAKYAT representative.
Remember Mr MP, WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GETS GOING.
May God Guide you and your colleague to the right path.
