Malaysiakini reported:
DAP’s first-time member of parliament Gobind Singh Deo was today suspended for two days from the Dewan Rakyat following a run in with the speaker over the issue of PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim’s safety.
Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia decided to suspend the MP for Puchong after the latter refused to budge from speaking on Anwar, who is presently taking refuge at the Turkish embassy after fearing for his life.
The speaker’s patience wore off when Gobind interfered during oral questions session to talk about Anwar in his supplementary question.
Gobind’s decision to raise the matter also caused a war of words between him and Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) when Tajuddin noted that a non-related fact should not be included in their questions.
Pandikar ordered both the MPs to sit down and told Gobind to only raise a matter that was related to the oral question.
Gobind however refused and stood his ground.
“Don’t make me use my power under the point of order to be used against you,” said the speaker.
Gobind shocked everyone in the house by replying, “Go ahead and use it!”
And Pandikar then suspended the MP for two days.
